The Kolleru Peoples’ Protection Committee has formulated an action plan to present its arguments in the Supreme Court against the large-scale destruction carried out arbitrarily across 77,000 acres without determining contour boundaries based on survey numbers, affecting the livelihood of the Kolleru region’s people.

As part of this initiative, representatives of the Kolleru People’s Protection Committee, under the leadership of Eluru MP Putta Mahesh Kumar, met with Supreme Court Senior Advocate Nageswara Reddy on Tuesday for consultations. They explained how the previous YSRCP government failed to implement a favorable decision taken by the central government, severely impacting the lives of Kolleru residents.

MP Mahesh Kumar briefed Senior Advocate Nageswara Reddy on the challenges faced by the Kolleru people. Since the Supreme Court’s judgment clearly stated that affected people could seek legal recourse, the MP urged the advocate to argue on behalf of the Kolleru residents and ensure justice for them.

As part of this legal battle, two writ petitions will be filed, one seeking the return of 15,000 acres of destroyed Jirayati lands and another representing long-term residents of the Kolleru region who are seeking justice. MP Mahesh Kumar handed over the necessary reports to Senior Advocate Nageswara Reddy for filing these petitions.

The Kolleru People’s Protection Committee representatives expressed their gratitude to MP Putta Mahesh Kumar for stepping forward to provide legal assistance following the directions of the coalition government led by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, who has shown a positive stance toward resolving the region’s issues.  They also thanked the coalition government for agreeing to pass another resolution in the Assembly and submit proposals to the central government.
