Telangana Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) on Thursday strongly criticized Congress leader Revanth Reddy, saying he should be called a “corruption monster” rather than by his name. KTR accused the Congress government of orchestrating a massive land scam worth Rs 5 lakh crore under the guise of the HILT policy.
As part of BRS’s ongoing outreach program, KTR visited several industries in the Jeedimetla industrial area on Thursday, engaging with workers and industrialists to discuss labor issues. Speaking to the media, he accused the Congress government of diverting lands originally allotted for employment generation and industrial development to private individuals, effectively turning them into real estate and commercial plots.
KTR highlighted that the lands, given to industries with strict conditions to generate employment, were now being handed over to private players at a fraction of the market value. While the market rate for these lands is around Rs 1 lakh per square yard, the government is allegedly allocating them for just Rs 4,000 per square yard. He further stated that while Hyderabad’s residents face severe shortages of space for houses, schools, hospitals, and even crematoriums, the government is handing over 9,300 acres of prime industrial land to private parties.
Demanding that this land be reclaimed and used for public welfare projects like Indiramma houses, Young India schools, and hospitals, KTR accused the Congress of failing to deliver even a single Indiramma house in Hyderabad so far.
KTR said BRS’s visits to industrial areas were aimed at exposing the government’s alleged land scam. He asserted that once BRS forms the government, the HILT policy will be repealed, and if necessary, a law will be introduced to ensure this.
KTR also appealed to industrialists to avoid becoming part of the scam, warning that any payments made under duress could be lost along with the allotted industrial land. He claimed that whistleblowers from Telangana had informed BRS about the government’s mismanagement and massive looting, which the government has failed to address.
He further questioned how the government could sell Jeedimetla lands for mere crores when lands elsewhere are being sold for hundreds of crores. KTR contrasted BRS’s earlier policies, which allowed only IT offices on industrial lands, generating employment and boosting economic activities, with the Congress government’s approach, which allegedly encourages polluting industries and real estate projects. He accused Revanth Reddy of using industrial lands for his real estate business under the “Future City” project, undermining the original purpose of these lands.
The industrial visit was attended by BRSLP whip and MLA K. P. Vivekanand, MLAs Shambhipur Raju, Satyavati Rathod and others.
