Telugu Desam Party (TDP) national general secretary and Minister for Education and IT Nara Lokesh on Monday emphasised that the party’s core philosophy is to nurture village- and mandal-level leaders into future state-level leadership. Addressing mandal party presidents and general secretaries during a special interaction session titled ‘Coffee Kabarulu’ at the TDP central office in Mangalagiri, Lokesh outlined the responsibilities, expectations and discipline required at the grassroots level.
Describing the TDP as a “university of leadership,” Lokesh said several senior ministers, including Nimmala Ramanaidu, began their journeys as mandal presidents. “Our identity, recognition and respect come from the Telugu Desam Party. The party is supreme and we should never forget that,” he stated.
Lokesh urged mandal presidents to be fully committed to the organisation and participate in all party programmes without exception. “You were appointed because the people trust you and the party trusts you. Work with loyalty and dedication,” he said. He stressed the need to resolve internal issues with maturity, reminding leaders to bring concerns to the notice of higher authorities instead of resorting to displeasure or factionalism.
Commenting on the previous regime, Lokesh said the state had witnessed five years of destructive rule under the YSRCP and accused the former government of targeting TDP workers. “We must remember that we are up against a psycho,” he remarked, referring to Opposition leader Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
He called on leaders to strengthen coordination with cluster, booth and unit in-charges, and to develop close bonds with local communities. “As we grow, we must become more humble. The people expect simplicity, accessibility and empathy,” he said.
Lokesh said he would allocate one day each week to be available at the party headquarters to receive feedback. He instructed all functionaries to download the ‘My TDP’ app, which will serve as a central platform for coordination.
He emphasised the need to actively take the coalition government’s development and welfare programmes, especially enhanced pensions to the people. “Speak about the work we are doing. Engage with the public patiently and respectfully. Those who work sincerely will always be encouraged,” he added.
Lokesh reminded leaders that success comes only through hard work, citing his own experience during the padayatra. “Results come only when we struggle. Everyone must work tirelessly,” he said.
