Andhra Pradesh Minister for Education, IT, and Electronics, Nara Lokesh, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday to seek enhanced Central support for the state's industrial and educational development.

Describing the meeting as cordial and constructive, Lokesh thanked the Prime Minister for approving the Advanced System in Package (ASIP) semiconductor unit in Andhra Pradesh, calling it a pivotal moment for the state’s industrial future. He urged similar support for other IT and electronics initiatives, highlighting their job creation potential and impact on the state’s economic growth.

In his capacity as Education Minister, Lokesh briefed the PM on ongoing reforms to elevate academic standards and strengthen higher education. He sought the Centre’s guidance in helping Andhra Pradesh develop globally competitive talent to meet the innovation and development needs of the future.

He also praised the Centre’s newly announced next-generation GST reforms, describing them as a "lifeline" for MSMEs and middle-class families in Andhra Pradesh. These reforms, he said, will stimulate small enterprises and ease financial pressure on households.

Lokesh highlighted the effective collaboration between the state’s coalition government and the Centre, and reaffirmed Andhra Pradesh’s alignment with the national goal of Viksit Bharat 2047.

He raised several state-specific issues, receiving a positive response from the Prime Minister, who assured full Central cooperation for Andhra Pradesh’s progress across sectors. As a gesture of cultural diplomacy, Lokesh presented Modi with a coffee table book on the Yogandhra celebrations held in June, showcasing Andhra Pradesh’s rich spiritual heritage.
