Mahabubabad district administration has intensified paddy procurement operations, with Collector and District Magistrate Sneha Shabarish directing officials to ensure faster purchases and seamless facilities for farmers at every centre.
During surprise inspections on Wednesday at procurement centres in Upparigudem, Kampalli and Kuravi mandals, the Collector reviewed arrangements and emphasized that farmers should not face any hardship during the procurement process. She said a total of 209 centres are functioning across the district under various agencies, including 150 by the Cooperative Department, 50 by IKP, 8 by the Tribal Corporation and 1 by MEPMA.
Officials informed her that 3,934.860 metric tonnes of paddy have been procured so far across the district.
With forecasts of unseasonal rains, Sneha Shabarish instructed authorities to keep tarpaulins ready, alert farmers in advance and transport procured grain to mills without delay. She also directed officials to ensure drinking water, medical camps, gunny bags, moisture-testing machines, paddy cleaners, tents and transport vehicles are available at all centres. She further ordered swift online registration of farmers’ bank details to ensure prompt payment transfers.
