In a major anti-drug operation on July 23, the Hyderabad City Police, acting on credible input, apprehended three accused, including two interstate drug transporters from Rajasthan and one local peddler, for possessing and selling Meow-Meow (MD) drug. The joint operation was carried out by the Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing (HNEW) and Begum Bazar Police.
The police seized 100 grams of MD drug, a country-made pistol, six live rounds, one empty bullet shell, and three mobile phones—all worth an estimated Rs. 10 lakh. The case was registered at Begum Bazar Police Station under sections of the NDPS Act and Arms Act.
The arrested include Pawan Bhati (24), Hemsingh Kachhawa (26), and Jeetendara Panwar (38), all originally from Rajasthan. Jeetendara, who had earlier run a sweet shop in Kattedan, turned to drug peddling after financial losses. He teamed up with Pawan and Hemsingh to procure MD from Rajasthan and distribute it in Hyderabad. Notably, Hemsingh has a criminal background and was previously booked under POCSO and SC/ST Acts.
The police revealed that Jeetendara had even test-fired a bullet in the Kattedan area. Authorities urged the public to report drug-related activity and warned against the growing trend of unemployed youth turning to drug trafficking for quick money.
