Metro India News | Hyderabad

Acting on credible intelligence, the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) apprehended two Nigerian nationals in the Tolichowki area for overstaying and suspected involvement in drug-related activities.

The accused have been identified as Aful Clement alias Aful David (29) and Lazarus Chinwenmeri Favour (19), both natives of Nigeria. Aful entered India on a business visa and was previously arrested in a 2022 cheating case by Chandigarh police, serving six months in jail. After his release, he stayed in Delhi without any legal employment and has overstayed his visa, which expired in 2019. Lazarus entered India on a student visa to pursue graduation in science and technology. However, he was found associating with drug offenders instead of attending academic pursuits.

Both individuals had recently moved to Hyderabad from Bengaluru and were acting suspiciously in the Tolichowki police station limits. While no drugs were recovered during their apprehension, authorities suspect they were involved in drug peddling. Their activities were deemed a threat to national security, prompting H-NEW to coordinate with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) to initiate their deportation.

Police have urged the public to remain vigilant about the misuse of visas by foreign nationals and report any suspicious activities. Citizens can contact H-NEW at 8712661601 to report drug-related information. The operation was led by DCP Y.V.S. Sudheendra and executed by Inspector S. Bala Swamy and SI B. Manoj Kumar with the H-NEW team.
