A patient diagnosed with advanced metastatic liver cancer has shown good response to advanced immunotherapy and targeted therapy at Medicover Cancer Institute. A 56-year-old woman, Jayalakshmi, from Mustabad in Rajanna Sircilla district was admitted to Medicover Cancer Institute with severe swelling and pain on the right side of her chest. Comprehensive investigations revealed Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC), the most common form of liver cancer.
Following a multidisciplinary evaluation, the oncology team initiated treatment with Atezolizumab-based immunotherapy combined with Bevacizumab targeted therapy. After completing six cycles of treatment, a follow-up PET-CT scan demonstrated remarkable improvement.
Encouraged by this response, the patient successfully received her seventh cycle of treatment without any major adverse effects and is currently in good health. Dr. A. Venugopal mentioned that recent advances in immunotherapy and targeted therapy have transformed the treatment landscape, enabling us to achieve meaningful disease control and improved quality of life, even in patients with metastatic disease.
