To honor the sacrifices of police martyrs and reaffirm its commitment to social service, the Hyderabad City Police organized a Mega Blood Donation drive on Monday, as part of the ongoing Police Commemoration Week (October 21-31). The initiative featured 12 blood donation camps across the city, with over 3,500 volunteers participating in this large-scale humanitarian effort.
The blood donation camps were set up not only to pay tribute to fallen police officers but also to support patients suffering from Thalassemia, a genetic blood disorder requiring regular transfusions. Police officers, personnel, and local citizens all joined hands to make this event a success.
Telangana State DGP, B Shivdhar Reddy, emphasized the importance of regular blood donations, urging people to donate at least two to four times a year. He noted that timely access to blood could save lives in road accident situations, citing that nearly 8,000 people die annually in the state due to accidents. He also highlighted the critical need for blood transfusions for Thalassemia patients.
Hyderabad City Police Commissioner, V C Sajjanar, also encouraged the youth to take part in blood donation campaigns and raised awareness about Thalassemia prevention. He thanked all the organizations and individuals involved in making the camp a success and expressed a commitment to continuing such community service initiatives in the future.
The camps were held at various locations across the city, including Abids, Amberpet, Panjagutta, Secunderabad, and others.
