Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha visited Visakhapatnam Central Jail on Sunday. She inquired about the current situation in the jail. Speaking on this occasion, the Home Minister said that allegations of cannabis supply have been received in Visakhapatnam Central Jail and a full investigation is underway. She said that such a situation has arisen in Visakhapatnam Central Jail due to the mistakes of the previous government and the protection of prisoners is important.
She said that recently cell phones were found in the jail, and that they have also inspected the places where the cell phones were found, and strict action will be taken after the investigation. She warned that action will be taken against those found to be erring.
Home Minister Anitha made serious remarks that a marijuana plant was found in the jail, and that action will be taken against the staff if they do not perform their duties effectively, and that no one will be spared.
She said that employees in Visakhapatnam Central Jail will be transferred only after an investigation, and that no one has been suspended so far. She said that CCTV cameras will be installed in ten days. She said that some prisoners are being transferred from Visakhapatnam Central Jail to Rajahmundry Jail.
She criticized that the records of visits to the Central Jail in the last five years were not good. Home Minister Anita clarified that the investigation report into the cell phone case will be out in ten to fifteen days and that the staff in the prison will be increased.
Meanwhile, many suspicions are being expressed about the security and movements of Visakhapatnam Central Jail.
