State Minister for Roads and Buildings, Investments and Infrastructure B.C. Janardhan Reddy represented Andhra Pradesh at the 4th National Sagarmala Apex Committee (NSAC) meeting in Delhi chaired by Union Ports, Shipping and Waterways Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday.
Union Minister for Roads, Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of State for Highways Shantanu Thakur, Chief Ministers, Ministers and other top officials of the coastal states attended the event.
Speaking on the ocassion, the Minister expressed confidence that under the leadership of Narendra Modi, India will transform into a global maritime powerhouse with infrastructure creation and growth in the maritime sector. He informed that NDA government in Andhra Pradesh is working towards making the state a maritime hub for India through “Swarna Andhra @ 2047” .
He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, the state government is developing four greenfield ports at Ramayapatnam, Machilipatnam, Kakinada Gateway and Malapet at a cost of Rs 17,000 crores and in addition, 10 fishing harbours at a cost of Rs 3,520 crores.
He also mentioned that a skill development centre will be set up at Ramayapatnam port. “The Andhra Pradesh government is preparing the Master Plan of State Maritime Waterways (SMWMP) and as part of this programme, the AP Maritime Board (APMB) has identified several projects and decided to implement 5 major fillers of sagarmala programme. We request the central government to look into the requests related to these projects for financial assistance under the Sagarmala plan and respond positively.” Minister BC Janrdhan Reddy said.
