The cabinet sub-committee on land administration reforms met at the secretariat in Amaravati under the chairmanship of Revenue Minister Anagani Satyaprasad. Ministers Payyavula Keshav, Narayana, TG Bharath, Anam Ramanarayana Reddy and NMD Farooq attended the sub-committee meeting.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Minister Anagani Satyaprasad said that five main issues had been discussed in-depth: freehold, 22A lands, houses for all, NALA(Conversion of agriculture land to non-agriculture purposes) and formation of assignment committees.
He stated that the government decided to set up district-wise assignment committees at the earliest and that the remaining issues will be decided in the second meeting on April 16.The Revenue Minister informed that the cabinet subcommittee had found irregularities to the extent of five lakh acres of freeholder lands and discussed in depth what should be done with them. He also mentioned that the government will expose the irregularities committed by the previous government under under the housing for all scheme.
“At present, we have decided to formulate a policy on regularization of houses for the poor and regularization of houses constructed illegally. As part of the Speed of doing governance, we discussed changes in the law to increase the pace of NALA approvals. We propose reforms in land administration to provide justice to every poor person and provide a conductive environment for industrialists.” the Revenue Minister informed.
