Water Resources Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu held a review meeting on Wednesday with irrigation officials at the state secretariat in Amaravati and reviewed Budameru modernization and Polavaram left canal works. Engineer in Chief M Venkateswara Rao, Chief Engineers of the respective projects, Superintended Engineers, Executive Engineers, representatives of agencies and other senior officials were present.
With the completion of the tendering process for the repairs of three breaches of Budameru, the officials have been instructed to start the works immediately and complete it before the start of the season. The Minister stated that an action plan should be prepared to complete the pending works to increase the Budamaru diversion canal to 37,500 cusecs. He directed the officials to prepare a DPR and submit a report with the intention of making Budameru flood pass through Enikepadu to join the sea from Kolleru and Upputeru.
