Heavy rains on Monday evening caused a nala to overflow, flooding houses in Devarakonda Basti under Venkateshwara Colony division. Several homes were inundated as rainwater entered residential areas.

Responding swiftly, Hyderabad Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, along with the Hyderabad Disaster Response Force, conducted a walking inspection from Road No. 7, Banjara Hills, to the flood-hit basti. She interacted with residents and assured that the government would extend full support to all affected families.

The Mayor directed GHMC and Hyderabad officials to take up desilting works of the nala to prevent future flooding. She also emphasized the need for permanent flood-mitigation measures in Devarakonda Basti.

Later, Mayor Vijayalakshmi reviewed major waterlogging points near KBR Park along with Hydra Commissioner A.V. Ranganath, instructing officials to prepare long-term plans for a lasting solution.
