The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has announced that drinking water supply will be disrupted for 24 hours in several parts of the city due to urgent repair works. Officials said that major leakages have developed in the 1500 mm dia PSC pumping main between Kalabgur and Hyder Nagar under the Manjeera Phase-2 supply line.
To carry out the repair works, water supply will be affected from 6 a.m. on September 24 (Wednesday) to 6 a.m. on September 25 (Thursday). During this period, many localities will either receive low-pressure supply or face complete interruption.
The affected areas include RC Puram, Ashok Nagar, Jyothi Nagar, Lingampally, Chandanagar, Gangaram, Madinaguda, and Miyapur under O&M Division 17; Beeramguda and Ameenpur under O&M Division 22; off-take points and bulk connections under Transmission Division 2; Erragadda, SR Nagar, and Ameerpet under O&M Division 6; and KPHB Colony, Kukatpally, Bhagyanagar Colony, and Pragathi Nagar under O&M Division 9.
The HMWSSB has appealed to residents of these areas to use water sparingly during this period and store sufficient quantities in advance to minimize inconvenience.
