Nampally Court rejects bail of iBomma Ravi in piracy cases

The Nampally court on Wednesday rejected the bail petitions of Imandi Ravi, the administrator of the piracy website iBomma, in multiple cybercrime cases.

Ravi had sought bail in five cases registered against him at the Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police Station. The police opposed the plea, stating that the investigation is ongoing and highlighting that Ravi holds foreign citizenship, raising concerns that he could flee the country if released. After considering the arguments, the court turned down his petitions.

Investigations have revealed significant details about Ravi’s activities. Cybercrime officials confirmed that Ravi obtained several fake identity cards using the names and personal details of three individuals—Vellela Prahlad Kumar, Anjaiah, and Kaliprasad—while using his own photograph on some of the cards.

Ravi’s connection with Prahlad dates back to 2017, when both were staying in a hostel in Ameerpet. During this period, Ravi reportedly took photocopies of Prahlad’s 10th-grade marksheet and Aadhaar card. Using these documents, Ravi later secured a driving license and PAN card in Prahlad’s name and opened a bank account. Fake identity cards were also created in the name of Anjaiah.

The cybercrime police continue to interrogate Ravi to uncover more details about the extent of his operations and the network behind the piracy website, which remains under scrutiny.
