OU Arts College Principal calls for drug-free youth

Osmania University (OU) Arts College Principal, Professor C. Kaseem, urged students to actively participate in preventing drug use among youth. Speaking at an awareness event on Wednesday, he called on OU students to organize campaigns highlighting the dangers of drugs.

Under the National Service Scheme (NSS), OU Arts College held a short film competition on the theme “Drug Use – Its Impact on Youth and Prevention Methods” in Hall No. 133. Six student teams participated, each presenting a seven-minute film. The Psychology Department team won first prize, the Philosophy Department took second, and the Journalism Department secured third place. Prizes and certificates were presented by Professor Kaseem to all participants.

OU-NSS Coordinator, Dr. Chalamalla Venkateshwarlu, emphasized that NSS students are actively working to keep youth away from drugs like ganja and other substances. NSS Program Officer Dr. Yalala Sivanand reiterated that the OU campus remains a drug-free zone.

The jury, comprising Professor Christopher, Dr. Vamsidhar, and Dr. P. Ramesh, along with faculty and students, attended and supported the initiative, highlighting the college’s commitment to fostering awareness and responsible behavior among its students.
