Hyderabad, September 20, 2025: Navatha, a rising star in Sepaktakraw, has scripted an inspiring comeback after a severe knee injury, clinching a silver medal at the National Games. The talented athlete, who had been preparing for the 2024 Asian Games, suffered a major ACL tear during a training camp in Goa, putting her dreams on hold.
Dr. Hariprakash, Consultant Orthopedic Arthroscopy and Sports Surgeon at KIMS Hospital, Secunderabad, performed the surgery. “Navatha had a complete ACL tear, requiring reconstruction using a graft from her own ligament. Post-surgery physiotherapy was crucial for her recovery,” he said. He emphasized the importance of early medical consultation after sports injuries to prevent further complications and ensure proper treatment.
Navatha described the injury as a “huge shock” but credited the surgery and rehabilitation for her return. “Initially, I couldn’t imagine playing again. Balancing my job in Mumbai with physiotherapy delayed my recovery, and it took around 8–10 months to get back on the court,” she said. Sepaktakraw, often called leg-volleyball, relies heavily on knee strength, making her achievement even more remarkable. Her journey stands as a testament to perseverance, proper medical care, and determination, inspiring fellow athletes facing setbacks.
