The construction of the new Osmania General Hospital complex at Goshamahal is progressing rapidly, with the Telangana government targeting its completion and public rollout by 2027, Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha said.

Planned as a state-of-the-art facility, the new hospital will feature advanced technology and comprehensive medical infrastructure. The design is being tailored to ensure ease and efficiency for patients, doctors and healthcare staff alike, he said.

Raja Narasimha was addressing the 175th MBBS graduation ceremony at Osmania Medical College on Saturday, where he, along with Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, conferred degrees on students. Senior officials, including Kaloji Narayana Rao Health University vice-chancellor Dr Ramesh Reddy, DME Narendra Kumar and principal Rajarao, were present.

Congratulating the graduates, the Minister described medicine as a noble profession rooted in compassion. He urged young doctors to prioritise patient care and empathy over commercial considerations, assuring them of the government’s continued support.

He noted that the long-pending plan to rebuild Osmania Hospital is now taking concrete shape, with efforts on to open the new facility by late next year.

"Once operational, the new complex is expected to significantly expand super speciality services, emergency care and access to advanced treatment," he said.

The Minister also highlighted parallel efforts to strengthen medical education, including the construction of modern hostels at Gandhi Medical College and Osmania Medical College.

He reiterated that improving access to quality healthcare remains a key priority, with the new Osmania hospital set to be a landmark addition to the state’s public health system.
