The district police have conducted awareness campaigns and counseling sessions for riders, educating them about the critical importance of helmet use
In a major move to enhance road safety, the Nalgonda district police have announced that the ‘No Helmet – No Petrol’ rule will be strictly enforced across the district starting from Wednesday. The announcement was made by District Superintendent of Police Sharath Chandra Pawar, IPS, as part of the National Road Safety Month celebrations.
Under this new directive, petrol pumps across the district have been instructed not to supply fuel to two-wheeler riders who are not wearing helmets. SP Pawar emphasized that this initiative aims to reduce fatalities and serious injuries caused by road accidents, particularly involving two-wheelers.
“The majority of road accident deaths in the district involve two-wheeler riders, and in many instances, the absence of helmets leads to fatal head injuries,” the SP said. “By enforcing this rule, our primary goal is to save lives and promote safe riding practices among the public.”
To ensure smooth implementation, all petrol bunk owners and staff have been briefed with detailed guidelines. Additionally, the district police have conducted awareness campaigns and counseling sessions for riders, educating them about the critical importance of helmet use.
The SP appealed to all two-wheeler riders to prioritize their own safety and that of their families. “Riding without a helmet is not just risky for the rider but can have devastating consequences for families left behind in case of accidents,” he said.
The district police further stressed that road safety is a collective responsibility. They urged citizens to cooperate with the authorities, follow traffic rules, and respect safety regulations. The success of initiatives like ‘No Helmet – No Petrol’ largely depends on public participation and awareness.
With this strict enforcement starting tomorrow, Nalgonda district sets an example of how proactive measures and strict adherence to road safety regulations can potentially save hundreds of lives. The authorities have assured that they will continue monitoring compliance and conduct ongoing awareness programs to reinforce the habit of helmet use among riders.
By combining law enforcement with public awareness, Nalgonda aims to significantly reduce two-wheeler accident fatalities and create a safer environment for all road users.
