Hyderabad SHE Teams caught 13 offenders red-handed in December while harassing women and girls, including 11 adults and 2 minors. Seven of them were warned and counseled in the presence of family members, while nine cases were booked as petty offenses. Legal proceedings led to convictions, with sentences ranging from fines to simple imprisonment, including three convictions of seven days each and others with shorter terms.

During the month, the teams received 98 complaints through WhatsApp, social media, and direct petitions. Of these, 29 cases were referred to police stations, resulting in 14 FIRs, while 15 cases remained under further investigation. Notable incidents included an engineering student harassed by a Rapido rider, a degree student threatened by her neighbor, and a woman blackmailed online using private photos. In each case, SHE Teams acted promptly, apprehended the accused, registered petty cases under relevant sections of the CP Act, and ensured swift legal action.

Beyond enforcement, SHE Teams focused on awareness and prevention, conducting 188 programs in schools, colleges, and public areas, 1,045 observation drives in sensitive locations, and 234 AV vehicle awareness campaigns reaching thousands of citizens.

Authorities urged women and the public to be cautious of fake online profiles, avoid oversharing personal information, secure accounts with strong passwords, and report harassment immediately. SHE Teams provide confidentiality, quick action, and legal support, ensuring women’s safety. Citizens can reach the teams for assistance or to report incidents via Dial 100 or WhatsApp at 9490616555.
