The Andhra Pradesh government’s ambitious ‘Yogandhra’ campaign, aimed at making 2 crore people active participants in yoga, has crossed a significant milestone within just ten days of its launch. As of Friday night, more than 1.13 crore individuals had voluntarily registered to be part of the initiative, signalling a resounding public response to the state-wide movement.
Health and Family Welfare Special Chief Secretary and Yogandhra State Nodal Officer M.T. Krishna Babu briefed the Ministers’ Committee, stating that 1,13,47,935 registrations had been recorded so far. The campaign, which began on May 21, aims to culminate with the International Yoga Day on June 21, and officials remain confident of reaching the 2-crore registration target within the stipulated time frame.
According to Krishna Babu, the initial 10-day goal was to register 69,92,478 participants. However, the actual registrations exceeded expectations, reaching 162% of the target. Similarly, master trainer registrations surged to 408% of the target, while yoga instructor enrollments reached 113%, indicating the campaign's growing popularity and momentum across districts.
“The overwhelming response from the public, combined with the tireless efforts of district-level administration, has made this progress possible. It also reflects the rising interest and awareness about yoga among people of all age groups,” Krishna Babu stated.
