Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has welcomed the Centre’s latest initiative introducing FASTag-based annual passes for highway travel, calling it a “game-changer” in India’s road infrastructure landscape. The Janasena leader expressed his appreciation through a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), lauding Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari for addressing a long-standing demand of highway commuters.
“The introduction of FASTag annual passes marks a significant step forward in simplifying toll payments and reducing travel costs. It offers a major relief to private vehicle owners who frequently commute on national highways,” Pawan Kalyan stated. He noted that this policy not only addresses economic concerns but also ensures smooth, swift, and dispute-free highway travel across the country.
Under the new policy, commuters will be able to obtain an annual pass for Rs.3,000, enabling unlimited travel through toll plazas without repeated payments. Pawan observed that the system will particularly benefit residents living near toll booths who travel frequently, saving both time and money. Expressing heartfelt gratitude to Minister Nitin Gadkari, the Deputy CM said, “This move reflects the Modi government’s commitment to citizen-centric governance. It ensures not only financial relief but also convenience for millions of highway users.”
The Union Minister had earlier announced that the FASTag-based annual pass system will be implemented from August 15, 2025. In his X post, Gadkari said that the initiative is aimed at providing seamless and cost-effective highway access to private vehicle owners such as car, jeep, and van users. Pawan Kalyan’s response came shortly after he retweeted Gadkari’s post.
