Around 40 students from Koti Women’s College may have fallen victim to a suspected cyber scam, according to Sultan Bazar police.

Authorities said students reported receiving suspicious phone calls from unidentified individuals posing as health officials. The callers sought personal details, attendance information, and health records, claiming a health check-up was being organized in collaboration with the university. The incident has raised concerns of a coordinated fraud attempt.

The investigation began after an assistant professor filed a formal complaint. Police are probing the possibility of an internal data breach and have not ruled out insider involvement. Officers are also investigating whether phishing links or malicious apps were used to compromise the students’ devices. The case is currently under active investigation.
