Minister of Agriculture, Handloom and Textiles Tummala Nageshwara Rao suggested that The Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University (PJTAU) to work in coordination with the agriculture department to make agriculture profitable.
While giving introductory remarks at inaugural session of the PJTAU two day diamond jubilee function to commemorate glorious sixty years of journey in service to the farming community, Minister Tummala Nageshwara Rao requested the agriculture scientists to identify the soils suitable for specific crops and guide the department of agriculture for soil specific crops.
Tummala Nageswara Rao has informed that, the University has grown to be a significant organization in the state over sixty years due to the vision of great personalities who have done commendable jobs. He expressed that there is a big challenge to the University to improve its ranking position across the State Agricultural Universities across India.
He was informed to establish a mode agricultural farm at every college for the benefit of the farming community and students. He also advised to bring relevant changes in the curriculum in view of the changing climate scenario and to focus on harnessing the potential of AI to make University more vibrant.
On the occasion, a video on the journey of the University was released by the minister. Later, while speaking at the Kisan Mela arranged at the university sports complex, the agriculture minister emphasized importance of Telangana in rice production and requested the farmers to diversify with alternate crops such as horticulture crops.
Professor Aldas Janaiah, Vice Chancellor, PJTAU while giving the welcome address, has presented the historical journey of the University over sixty years. He also informed the various initiatives to make the university visible amongst the farming community.
The chancellor and Governor of Telangana state Jishnu Dev Varma was the chief guest of the special session of the diamond jubilee programme held at university auditorium. On this occasion, the governor has unveiled the miniature diamond jubilee pylon in commemoration of the glorious 60 years of the University journey. Various publications such as Souvenir and other publications were released by the chancellor and the Minister of Agriculture.
