Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has strongly demanded immediate justice for ISKCON monk Chinmoy Krishna Das, who has reportedly remained imprisoned in Bangladesh for more than 500 days. The Jana Sena Party chief urged the Bangladesh government to provide urgent medical assistance to the monk and grant him immediate bail.
Reacting sharply to the issue, Pawan Kalyan expressed concern over repeated denial of bail and alleged intimidation of lawyers representing the monk. “More than 500 days in jail and repeated rejection of bail. If even the lawyers defending him are being threatened inside court premises, how can justice prevail?” he questioned.
The Deputy Chief Minister said it was deeply disturbing that an elderly spiritual leader dressed in saffron robes was allegedly being treated like a criminal for raising concerns over the rights and protection of minority Hindus in Bangladesh. He remarked that the global community should not remain silent while the voice of a religious leader is being suppressed.
Pawan Kalyan also criticised the selective silence of certain human rights activists and self-proclaimed secular voices across the world. “Those who instantly react to some issues with hashtags and campaigns are now completely silent. Does their sense of humanity also come with filters?” he asked in a strongly worded statement.
He maintained that defending the rights and dignity of minority communities should not be viewed as an offence and stressed that democratic societies must uphold freedom of expression and religious rights irrespective of political considerations.
Calling for immediate humanitarian intervention, Pawan Kalyan appealed to the Bangladesh authorities to ensure proper medical care and legal protection for Chinmoy Krishna Das. He urged the international human rights community to closely monitor the developments and raise its voice against alleged injustice.
