Hyderabad City Police Commissioner C V Anand announced that 30,000 police personnel will be deployed to ensure a peaceful and smooth Ganesh idol immersion procession on Saturday, as part of the Vinayaka Navratri celebrations.
Commissioner Anand, along with officials from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Rachakonda, Hyderabad and Cyberabad Police, inspected key immersion procession routes including Balapur, Charminar, Telugu Thalli FlyOver, Mozamjahi Market, and Necklace Road. They reviewed logistics such as traffic flow, security, power supply, emergency services, and waste management.
Special focus will be on the Khairatabad and Balapur processions to ensure timely completion. Coordination with multiple departments is already in place.
GHMC Commissioner R V Karnan said arrangements include 20 major lakes and 72 artificial ponds for immersion. The civic body has deployed 134 fixed cranes, 259 mobile cranes, 56,187 temporary lights, and 160 Ganesh action teams. Nine boats with DRF teams and 200 swimmers are stationed at Hussain Sagar. Thirteen control rooms are also operational.
Around 14,486 sanitation workers are working in shifts to maintain cleanliness. As of September 2, over 1.21 lakh idols have already been immersed, with another 50,000 expected on September 6. Hyderabad District Collector Harichandana Dasari assured all efforts are being made in coordination with departments to ensure a smooth and safe immersion.
