As part of its annual inter-medical college fest Anastomoz 2025, Apollo Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (AIMSR) organized a run titled ‘Stop Substance Abuse’ on Monday at KBR Park in Banjara Hills.
The event was flagged off by Ponnam Prabhakar, Minister for Transport and BC Welfare, Government of Telangana. Over 400 medical students participated in this impactful initiative.
In his address, the Minister praised AIMSR’s efforts in raising awareness about substance abuse, especially among youth. He highlighted the Telangana Government’s commitment to eradicating drugs, including new laws and strict enforcement.
‘This is not just a government responsibility, the fight against drugs requires a united effort from all sections of society,’ he stated. He encouraged students to become ambassadors of awareness and use social media to further the cause.
Dr. K Manohar, Dean of AIMSR, emphasized that Anastomoz is not only a celebration of medical education but also a platform to address social issues. ‘Substance abuse is a growing menace that must be tackled with urgency,’ he said, stressing the importance of early intervention and community engagement.
AIMSR COO Aparna Reddy also attended the event, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to health and social responsibility.
The run served as both a symbolic and practical step toward building a drug-free Telangana, aligning with the Chief Minister’s call for a ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat.’
