Srungavarapukota: The agitation against lands allotted to the Jindal company intensified in Boddavara village of Srungavarapukota mandal, with displaced families vowing to continue protests until justice is delivered. All India Bahujan Samaj Party (AIBSP) National Coordinator and former DGP J. Purnachandra Rao demanded that the land allotment be cancelled and nearly 1,100 acres be returned to SC, ST and BC farmers.
Addressing a public meeting, Rao called for the cancellation of GO-14, alleging it was issued without adequate consultation. He said farmers would not accept being turned into wage labourers and warned that the struggle would continue until their lands were restored. He accused successive governments and dominant caste leaderships of favouring corporate interests at the expense of marginalized communities.
Rao held the Jindal management responsible for failing to fulfill promises of jobs and equity shares to displaced families. He said it was unjust that land had been acquired years ago without any industry being established. If the project does not materialize, the land should be returned; if it proceeds, compensation must be paid at current market rates, he said.
With police denying permission for protests, MLC Raghu Raju organized a dharna at his residence. AIBSP leaders and displaced villagers demanded employment, shares and fair compensation. Protesters later held a rally against the company, officials and public representatives, warning of intensified agitation, including hunger strikes, if their demands are ignored.
