Addressing a sea of voters with the pink hue fluttering in the air in the by lanes of Jubilee Hills, K T Rama Rao, Working President, BRS gave a clarion call to the voters with two days to go for the by-elections-“This is not just a by-election; it’s a referendum on Telangana’s future.”
Do not fall for the few thousand rupees dished out to you, instead think of long-term goals and the development of the area as well the city and the state, he appealed. It is a matter of 500 days and K Chandrashekar Rao will return as the Chief Minister, he said. In the roadshow in Yousufguda on the final day of campaign, KTR said that this election would decide whether Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s chair lasts “three years or just three months.”
KTR urged voters to remember the decade of development under KCR’s leadership. “Think with your heart before voting,” he said. “During KCR’s rule, we provided free water, 24-hour power supply, and basti hospitals. But under the Congress government, people are seeing bulldozers instead of welfare. They promised Indiramma houses but are now demolishing existing ones. Don’t hand the sword to Congress and ask us to fight for you—give it to us, and we’ll stand in the way of those bulldozers.”
The BRS leader criticized the Congress government’s six guarantees, accusing it of failing to deliver even one. “They promised gold for women, Rs. 2,500 monthly for women, Rs. 4,000 pension for the elderly—have they fulfilled any of them?” he asked. “Revanth Reddy can’t release funds even for his own MLAs. How can he promise development for Jubilee Hills? A man who can’t feed his mother won’t buy gold bangles for his aunt.”
KTR alleged that the Congress government has failed students and retired employees by not releasing fee reimbursements and pending dues. He also questioned AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi’s sudden support for Revanth Reddy. “He once called Revanth an RSS man and claimed Mohan Bhagwat runs Gandhi Bhavan. Why is he supporting him now?” he asked.
Highlighting the significance of the by-election, KTR said that the 4 lakh voters of Jubilee Hills have the power to deliver justice to 4 crore people across Telangana. “When Congress realized it would lose here, they offered Azharuddin a minister post out of fear,” he alleged. “Now they are distributing money and utensils to buy votes. If people mistakenly vote for Congress, Revanth will assume he has a free pass to ignore all promises. Let’s defeat Congress here to pressure the government into fulfilling its guarantees.” KTR appealed to voters to stay alert against bogus votes and ensure that every genuine voter casts their ballot for the car symbol.
Stop the bulldozer
The government is targeting the poor families on weekends and shielding contractors. If Revanth Reddy truly believes in equal law, he should demolish illegal constructions of his own ministers, said KTR. Criticizing the HYDRAA demolition drive, visuals on LED screens were displayed. The BRS working president listed the failures of the Congress government including delayed fee reimbursement, pending pensions, dues to retired employees and harassment of film industry workers. He said it had pushed the State’s economy, real estate, and small trade sectors into decline.
“Revanth Reddy talks of developing Jubilee Hills when his own MLAs have complained they have not received funds for their constituencies in the last two years,” he pointed out. Condemning Revanth Reddy’s remark that “if there is no Congress, there are no Muslims,” Rama Rao called it an attempt to polarise voters. He urged the Muslim community to reflect on whether the BRS or the Congress had truly stood by them and empowered them. “Our Asad bhai (Asaduddin Owaisi) is now campaigning for the Congress, despite the latter belittling him in the ongoing Bihar Assembly elections and calling him the BJP’s B-team,” he quipped.
