Rs 10,120 cr released under ‘Talliki Vandanam’

The Andhra Pradesh government has begun disbursing funds under its flagship ‘Talliki Vandanam’ scheme, providing financial assistance to support the education of school-going children. Under the programme, Rs 10,120.78 crore is being credited to the bank accounts of nearly 42.70 lakh eligible mothers across the state.

Each eligible mother will receive Rs 13,000 per child, with the fund transfer process continuing until July 24. The scheme is expected to benefit around 67.47 lakh students studying from Class I to Intermediate, as financial assistance is provided for every eligible child in a family after removing the earlier restriction that limited benefits to only one child. Reacting to the fund release on X, HRD and IT Minister Nara Lokesh said the timely financial support at the beginning of the academic year would ensure that students’ education continues without disruption.

“Children are our greatest asset, and their education is the family’s most valuable investment. We have removed the previous restrictions so that every eligible child in a family receives the benefit separately,” Lokesh said.

He thanked mothers across the state for their constant efforts in ensuring their children’s education and reiterated the coalition government’s commitment to reducing the financial burden on families while improving access to quality education.

The government said the Talliki Vandanam scheme is one of its key education initiatives aimed at encouraging school enrolment, improving retention and ensuring that financial constraints do not become a barrier to children’s education.
