In a significant development for the Pithapuram region, the Andhra Pradesh government has sanctioned Rs. 59.70 crore for the construction of a Road Over Bridge (ROB). Administrative approvals for the project have been secured, marking a major step toward resolving long-standing traffic issues in the area.
Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan expressed his delight over the approval, recalling his election promise to construct the bridge. “I am extremely happy that this project is moving forward. During my election campaign, I had assured the people that this Road Over Bridge would be built, and today, I am glad to see it being realized,” he stated.
The bridge will be constructed on the Uppada-Samarlakota road, where heavy traffic congestion has been a persistent issue due to a railway crossing. Highlighting the difficulties faced by commuters, Pawan Kalyan noted that once the bridge is completed, vehicular movement will become smoother, significantly reducing travel time for the public.
The project is being undertaken as part of the central government’s ‘Setu Bandhan’ scheme, which focuses on enhancing road infrastructure across the country. Acknowledging the support received, the Deputy CM extended his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, and State Roads and Buildings Minister BC Janardhan Reddy for their efforts in securing the funds.
Expressing hope for the swift completion of the project, Pawan Kalyan reiterated the state government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and ensuring better connectivity for the people of Andhra Pradesh.
