Minister for Transport Ponnam Prabhakar has congratulated V Saritha on her appointment as the first woman driver for the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC).
V. Saritha, who hails from Sitya thanda in the Narayanapuram mandal of Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, has taken on the role of the first woman driver of the RTC electric bus from JBM at the Miryalaguda Depot. She is currently operating the bus service from Hyderabad to Miryalaguda. Saritha previously spent a decade working as a driver for the Delhi Transport Corporation. Due to her family situation, she recently approached Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and requested an opportunity to work as a driver in her hometown.
The Minister swiftly addressed her request and communicated with the RTC officials. Subsequently, she was assigned the role of a driver from JBM at the Miryalaguda depot. Saritha began her duties on Saturday, operating the first bus from Hyderabad to Miryalaguda. During the event, she expressed her gratitude to Minister Ponnam for the opportunity extended to her at TGSRTC.
In his remarks, the Minister highlighted the efforts of the State government in promoting women's empowerment alongside ensuring effective administration. He mentioned that the Mahalaxmi scheme has already enabled women to travel for free on RTC buses, and additional initiatives have been launched with the goal of turning one crore women into millionaires. Ponnam Prabhakar emphasised that women should strive for excellence in all sectors, equally alongside men, and congratulated Saritha on her new role as a driver.
