SAI team inspects Khelo India venues

Preparations for the 8th edition of the Khelo India Youth Games–2026 gathered pace as a team from the Sports Authority of India (SAI) inspected sports infrastructure across Medchal–Malkajgiri, Karimnagar and Hanumakonda districts on Wednesday. Telangana is set to host the prestigious national sporting event next year.

The SAI delegation, led by Executive Director Amar Jyoti and comprising Assistant Directors Madhu Harsha, Gopal Kandpal and Mohit, visited the Hakimpet Sports School, Karimnagar Sports School, Satavahana University, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Stadium in Karimnagar and sports facilities under the Sports Authority of Telangana in Hanumakonda.

During the inspection, the officials reviewed the quality of sports infrastructure, training facilities and venue preparedness. They also assessed accommodation and other amenities available for athletes, technical officials and visitors expected during the Games. The team instructed officials to carry out necessary repairs and infrastructure upgrades wherever required to ensure that all venues meet the standards for hosting the Khelo India Youth Games.

The inspection was attended by Deputy Directors Ravinder, Raviteja and Ashok Kumar, engineering officials Srinivas and Sandeep, Hakimpet Sports School OSD Mamata, Karimnagar DYSO Srinivas, Hanumakonda DYSO Prashanth, coaches, physiotherapists and officials of the Telangana Khelo India Cell. The SAI delegation will continue its inspection programme on Thursday with a visit to Mahabubnagar district to review sports facilities and venue readiness.
