Scamsters are adopting new methods to cheat the people and make easy money. The latest method is threatening power supply cuts. ‘Dear sir, your power supply will be cut today after 7.30pm due to last month's bill not update. Call immediately 8982757752 whatsapp 8125004052’, says a message on your mobile.

Perturbed over the prospect of power supply cut in the night, the recipient of the message will promptly send a reply message asking about the amount due and other details. The other side will tell you they will speak to you on WhatsApp.

Engaging you in conversation, the Scamster will create an app through which he will get your mobile screen on his screen. Even while cautioning you not to reveal the OTP number to anyone, he will get money from your bank account transferred to his account. On Saturday, a retired journalist became a victim of this type of fraud and lost Rs 30,000 from his bank account.

Beware of the fact that the electricity department officials will not send such messages about disconnection of power supply. If you receive such messages, you can contact the phone numbers on your bill, but don't get panicky. Don't reveal your details.
