The South Central Railway (SCR) Zone recorded a 6% growth in freight loading in April 2025 compared to the last year. The freight performance was 12.363 million tonnes (MTs) in April 2025 which is highest ever for the month of April in any year. The incremental loading was mainly due to the robust increase in loading of Iron Ore and Cement commodities.
The Cement loading registered at 3.243 MTs which is 18% more when compared to 2.740 MTs registered last year. Similarly, Iron ore loading registered at 0.765 MTs which is 39% more when compared to 0.550 MTs registered last year.
The Zone has been giving special thrust towards strengthening its freight traffic by moving in a proactive manner to streamline the supply of wagons, monitoring the movement of freight trains etc .Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, South Central Railway has lauded the efforts of the all the departments for excellent coordination for this remarkable achievement.
He stated that in spite of major infrastructure works, meticulous planning of both Passenger and freight operations has led to this achievement. He commended the efforts of all team members who have contributed to this significant achievement and advised to maintain the same tempo to achieve record performance during the current financial year.
