The Department of Telugu at IIMC College, in association with the Telugu Bhasha Chaitanya Samithi and supported by the Telangana State Council of Higher Education, successfully organized a one-day national seminar titled “Sahiti Murtula Sahitya Samalochana” (Literary Reflections of Literary Icons) on Wednesday, marking the birth anniversaries of Daasarathi Krishnamachary, Kaloji Narayana Rao, C. Narayana Reddy, and Dasarathi Rangacharya on Telangana Language Day.
The seminar began with the unveiling of a “Collection of Essays” by Vice Chairman of the Telangana State Council of Higher Education, Itikala Purushottam, featuring works from 92 paper presenters. Distinguished guests Dr. Rajini, Dr. Masana Chinnappa, and Telangana Sahitya Academy Secretary Namoju Balachari shared insights, while eminent poets and scholars, including former Academy Chairman Nandini Sidda Reddy and TERSAM President Naleshwaram Shankaram, delivered keynote lectures on the lives and works of the four literary stalwarts. Paper presentations were held across four panels named after the writers — Kaloji Vedika, Dasarathi Rangacharya Vedika, Krishnamachary Vedika, and Cinare Vedika — with 80 participants presenting in-depth analyses.
In the valedictory session, Osmania University Arts College Principal Prof. Kasim, Hyderabad Central University Professor Pilla Marri Ramulu, and literary figure Bade Saab praised the initiative. The seminar, presided over by college chairman Vangapalli Vishwanatham, was directed by Prof. Ramakrishna, Head of the Telugu Department.
Eight best papers, two for each writer, were awarded cash prizes and certificates. Co-convener Dr. Jayaprakash thanked all staff and participants, concluding with distribution of certificates to all presenters, reinforcing the seminar’s goal of promoting Telugu literary heritage.
