SHE Teams nab 81 for harassment in Malkajgiri

The SHE Teams of the Malkajgiri Commissionerate apprehended 81 persons, including 25 minors, for harassing women and girls during the last fortnight of January. The action comes as part of intensified surveillance and special decoy operations carried out across vulnerable public locations.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Women Safety) T. Usha Rani said the department will take strict action against those involved in stalking and harassment. She urged women and girls not to hesitate in approaching the police and to lodge complaints without fear. “We will not spare anyone who harasses women. Victims should come forward with confidence, and we assure full support,” she said.

The SHE Teams have been conducting decoy operations in plain clothes at bus stands, railway stations, metro stations, schools, colleges, vegetable markets and other crowded public places. Officials said suspects were caught with proper evidence to ensure strong cases in court.

According to police, those found stalking or harassing women were apprehended and produced before courts. In addition to legal proceedings, counselling sessions were organised for the accused at the CP Camp Office in LB Nagar. These sessions were conducted in the presence of their family members with the support of professional counsellors.
