Sikhs commemorate 350th martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur

The 350th martyrdom of the ninth Sikh Guru, Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, was observed on Sunday with devotion, honoring his sacrifice for religious freedom and human rights. The day highlighted his courage, selflessness, and unwavering commitment to defending faith and human dignity.

A large number of Sikh devotees from across Telangana attended the “Vishaal Kirtan Darbar” at NTR Stadium, Indira Park. The event was organized by the Prabandhak Committee of Gurudwara Sahib Sitafalmandi, Secunderabad, in collaboration with other Sikh Gurudwaras in the state. The congregation featured Shabad Keertans and Kathas, focusing on the teachings of Sikh Gurus, which promote peace, brotherhood, and communal harmony.

Renowned Ragi Jathas, including Bhai Anantvir Singh Ji (USA), Bhai Gurdev Singh Ji (Australia), and Gyani Sher Singh Ji (Ambala), inspired devotees through performances and stories of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s life. They urged attendees to uphold values of integrity, compassion, and respect for diversity. The committee emphasized Guru Ji’s ultimate sacrifice for protecting the right of individuals to practice their faith freely, earning him the title “Hind Ki Chadar.”

The event concluded with the traditional Guru-Ka-Langar, where devotees sat together in disciplined rows, reflecting unity and service to humanity. The observance underscored the enduring legacy of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and the inspiration his life continues to provide for justice, peace, and communal harmony.

Chairmen Harpal Singh, Kanchan Singh, president Pratap Singh, vice president Rajender Singh, general secretary Ranjeet Singh, and joint secretary & coordinator Jagjeet Singh led the proceedings.
