SIR-2026 work must be expedited: CEO Sudarshan Reddy

Metro India News | Hyderabad : State Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudarshan Reddy has directed district Collectors and election officials to accord special focus to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 of electoral rolls over the next 30 to 40 days and complete all processes by October 25.

Reviewing the progress with Collectors and District Election Officers through a video conference on Monday, Sudarshan Reddy said the disposal of Form-6, Form-7 and Form-8 applications was below the expected level. He instructed officials to issue notices, conduct hearings and dispose of applications without waiting until the final stages.

He also directed officials to review objections to the draft electoral rolls regularly and set specific targets for Booth Level Officers (BLOs), with their performance monitored continuously. Notices relating to anomalies and mapping issues should be resolved by the last week of October, he said.

The CEO said the declaration form must be submitted along with Form-6 and voters should be informed about the required documents. Only BLOs should distribute notices, while BLAs could assist in identifying houses where necessary.

He asked Collectors to review applications pending with BLOs for more than five days and ensure their early disposal. Collector C. Narayana Reddy said the district would follow Election Commission guidelines in issuing notices, conducting hearings and resolving applications.
