State level Rugby tourney to be held at Sangareddy

Metro India News | Hyderabad : The Rugby Association of Telangana will host the State-Level ASMITA Rugby Championship on November 4 and 5 at Woxsen University, Sangareddy, said Dr. Narendra Ram, President of the Rugby Association of Telangana and Aditya Vutpala, General Secretary of the Rugby Association of Telangana. The announcement was made at a press conference held on November 3 at Lifespan Hub, Gachibowli.

The two-day championship will feature 28 teams from across Telangana, comprising 16 teams in the Under-15 category and 12 teams in the Under-18 category. ASMITA stands for ‘Achieving Sports Milestone by Inspiring Women Through Action’. It is part of the Government of India’s Khelo India initiative, which encourages women and girls to participate in sports and supports the identification of sporting talent at the grassroots level.

Dr. Narendra Ram Nambula, President of the Rugby Association of Telangana mentioned that the championship is an important opportunity for young girls from across Telangana to experience high-level competition and show what they can achieve. He thanked the Government of Telangana, sports authorities, Woxsen University, district organisers, coaches, officials and all partners for supporting this effort.
