Sri Sri Holistic Hospitals, Nizampet, has successfully treated a 32-year-old patient with Achalasia Cardia using the advanced POEM (Peroral Endoscopic Myotomy) procedure. Krishnaveni had suffered for months from severe post-meal vomiting and an inability to retain food. After multiple failed treatments elsewhere, she consulted Dr. D Srinivasulu, Consultant in Gastroenterology at Sri Sri Holistic Hospitals. She was diagnosed with Achalasia Cardia, a rare disorder that prevents the esophagus from properly moving food to the stomach.

Dr. Srinivasulu performed the POEM procedure, a state-of-the-art, incision-less technique done via endoscopy. The procedure involves creating a tunnel within the esophageal wall and cutting the inner muscle layer to ease food passage. ‘POEM is a game-changer for Achalasia Cardia, offering faster recovery and excellent outcomes,’ said Dr. Srinivasulu. The procedure, including diagnostic endoscopy, sub mucosal tunneling, myotomy, and mucosal closure, was a success. Krishnaveni recovered quickly and was discharged in two days, resuming normal eating without discomfort.
