The Telangana government will observe Tourism Week from May 18 to 23 under the Praja Palana–Pragathi Pranalika initiative, highlighting the state’s cultural heritage, traditions, and historical legacy. The Tourism Department, in coordination with the Language and Culture, Archaeology (Heritage) Department, and NITHM, is organizing the programme to position Telangana as a major tourism hub, promote eco-tourism, and create employment opportunities for youth in the sector.

Tourism and Culture Minister Jupally Krishna Rao will participate in several inaugural events. In the morning, he will attend the admission and career guidance programme at the State Institute of Hospitality Management (SIHM), Zahirabad. Later, he will join the International Museum Day celebrations at the State Museum, Public Gardens, Nampally, where he will release brochures for Kolanupaka and Alampur site museums along with the “Tourist Guide in Telangana” poster.

The week-long celebrations will include heritage walks, cleanliness drives at tourist destinations, digital campaigns with influencers and YouTubers, and district-level awareness seminars. Cultural programmes across Hyderabad and district headquarters will showcase folk arts, classical dance, Perini performances, music concerts, and literary events reflecting Telangana’s vibrant traditions.

Key attractions such as the UNESCO-listed Ramappa Temple, Nagarjuna Sagar, Buddhavanam, Alampur Jogulamba Temple, Panagal Museum, Warangal heritage structures, Laknavaram Lake, Bogatha Waterfall, and Hyderabad’s monuments will be promoted extensively. The celebrations will conclude on May 23 with the Tourism Conclave 2026 in Hyderabad, themed “Destination Telangana: Strategies for the Next Frontier of Tourism”, focusing on sustainable growth and infrastructure development.
