HYDERABAD :
In a distressing incident, a Class 10 student from the BC Welfare Hostel in Danavaigudem, Khammam, suffered partial paralysis in her arm and leg after reportedly receiving an overdose of an anti-rabies vaccine. The incident, which came to light on Wednesday, has sparked widespread concern over the hostel’s living conditions and allegations of medical negligence. The student, identified as Samudra Laxmi Bhavani Keerthi, is a resident of the Government Backward Class Girls Residential High School in Raghunadhapalem mandal.
She was initially treated for rodent bites with an anti-rabies vaccine. However, she was bitten again on Sunday night, prompting hostel authorities to inform her mother. Following this, she was rushed to a private hospital for advanced treatment after her condition worsened. Reports suggest that the paralysis may have been triggered by an overdose of the vaccine. Meanwhile, hospital authorities have confirmed that Bhavani Keerthi’s condition is now stable.
