Minister for IT and Industries Duddilla Sridhar Babu said the State government is working with sincerity and commitment to transform the Telangana into a global hub for life sciences.
As part of its expansion, iCHOR Biologics Pvt. Ltd. has set up a new state-of-the-art facility spanning 1.75 lakh sq. ft. at Genome Valley in Medchal-Malkajgiri district. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, along with Minister Sridhar Babu, laid the foundation stone for this facility on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Sridhar Babu said Telangana’s life sciences sector has recorded an impressive Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 23 percent, well above the national average of 14 percent.
"The sector currently contributes 2.5 percent to 3 percent to Telangana’s GSDP, compared to the national average of 1.5 percent, underscoring the state's leadership in this space. According to the CBRE Global Life Sciences Atlas 2025, Hyderabad has earned a place among the world’s leading life sciences clusters alongside Boston, San Francisco, Cambridge, and Tokyo. Hyderabad is the first Indian city to feature in this list, a moment of immense pride and a testament to the government's progressive initiatives," he said.
Sridhar Babu said the Telangana is emerging as a global model for building a robust life sciences ecosystem. Plans are underway to establish dedicated Pharma villages along the Hyderabad–Nagpur and Hyderabad–Bengaluru corridors to accelerate this vision, he said.
"The state is deeply focused on next-generation bio-manufacturing, cell and gene therapy, AI-powered diagnostics, drug innovation, rare disease research, green chemistry for sustainability, and bio-contract research & manufacturing services (CRAMS), aiming to position Telangana at the forefront of global life sciences innovation," the Minister said. "Today’s milestone with iCHOR marks a significant step in that journey, creating employment opportunities.
