The Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TGSWREIS) has launched a series of groundbreaking initiatives to equip students with employable skills. In collaboration with SGBS Unnati Foundation, job-oriented training will commence from June 3rd across 239 institutions, targeting final-year students and alumni aged 18–25. This includes 200-hour blended training modules to enhance job readiness and facilitate placements via the UDYHOGAM job portal.
Elaborating details here on Tuesday, Secretary Dr. V.S. Alagu Varsini, IAS, stated that fifteen new vocational courses have been introduced this year with the goal of transforming 36,000 students into employable youth. MoUs with Raspberry Pi Foundation and the French Embassy are enabling coding and computing labs, along with A1–C level French certificate courses. NEET, JEE, CLAT, and UPSC coaching is also being expanded with micro-scheduled teaching and rigorous assessments, the IAS officer stated.
Mental wellness is a top priority, with 720 teachers trained in emotional wellbeing and life coaching. Over 1.5 lakh students are being supported through Mental Wellness Warriors. The Eat Right School Certification initiative ensures nutritious food and hygiene standards, backed by FSSAI-certified cooking agencies, Varsini said. Of the 1.69 lakh applications received this year, 55,504 seats were filled in two rounds of counselling. The final counselling is scheduled for May 20, and selected students must report by June 10.
