Chittoor District In-charge Collector Vidyadhari said on Wednesday that nearly 42,000 tonnes of Totapuri mangoes have been procured through 27 processing units in the district till date. District Director of Horticulture Madhusudhan Reddy along with the collector-in-charge attended the gram sabhas held at Vaddipalli in Puthalapattu mandal and created awareness on the movement of mangoes to the pulp industries. Tokens for sale of mangoes have been granted to 92 farmers in coordination with processing unit management of Global Farms Fresh Pvt Ltd.
Totapuri mango prices continue to remain stable and farmers have been advised not to worry. Only ripe fruits should be shifted to processing units, he said. Officials stated that farmers will be made aware of the sale of mangoes through gram sabhas in mandals. Government employees have been appointed in shifts at processing units for suggestions and advices to mango farmers.
