The Telangana Recognised School Managements Association (TRSMA) has urged the State Government to protect budget private schools from what it described as increasing harassment by fake student organisations and vested interest groups. Addressing a press meet in Hyderabad, TRSMA State President S. N. Reddy alleged that certain individuals were misusing the Right to Information (RTI) Act and making baseless complaints to intimidate school managements, affecting the smooth functioning of educational institutions.

General Secretary K. Anil Kumar said such groups were pressuring local education officials to issue notices to schools and later using them to blackmail managements, forcing several institutions to shut down. He also clarified that schools only facilitate third party vendors in supplying textbooks and that fee structures are decided by each school's governing body.

TRSMA Treasurer K. Srikanth Reddy said nearly 12,000 budget private schools in Telangana educate around 35 lakh students and provide employment to about five lakh teaching and non teaching staff. The association has submitted representations to the DGP and the government seeking a GO to safeguard educational institutions from unlawful interference.
