Helicopter snag forces Minister to cancel Krishna Patnam visit
Technical snag in a helicopter frequently used by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu led to the abrupt cancellation of Union Minister Piyush Goyal’s scheduled visit to Krishnapatnam Port on Monday. The malfunction, detected shortly after the Minister boarded the chopper in Tirupati, has raised serious concerns over the safety protocols of VIP air travel in the state.
Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta has directed aviation authorities to submit a comprehensive report on the helicopter’s technical history and current condition. The DGP has also ordered an overall review of all helicopters designated for VVIP movement, with an emphasis on flight safety, maintenance logs, and pre-flight inspections.
