Reduce, reuse and Recycle, the three golden words are to be put to practice at Dharmavaram and in the process turn it into a model for others. The Andhra Pradesh Health, Family Welfare, and Medical Education Minister Satya Kumar Yadav during the opening of a dump yard in Tummalapalli village, constructed at an estimated cost of Rs.2.23 crore under the Swachh Dharmavarm initiative said, “The previous government neglected the facility which is now being revived. The unused vermicospost of eight years will be used to produce 40 tons of organic fertilizer every 90 days, which could generate an annual income of Rs.14 lakh for the municipality.
The minister noted that Dharmavaram generates approximately 73 tons of waste daily. He emphasized the importance of waste segregation through Material Recovery Facilities (MRF), where wet and dry waste are separated. Calling for active participation from citizens, students, and voluntary organizations, Minister Yadav urged everyone to contribute to the cleanliness and beautification of Dharmavaram.
“Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the Swachh Bharat program has delivered promising results. With collective efforts, we aim to transform Dharmavaram into a cleaner and healthier town,” the minister said. He also stressed initiatives to generate wealth from waste while ensuring public health by preventing diseases like dengue, diarrhea, and malaria caused by stagnant water and unhygienic conditions.
Minister Yadav criticized the previous administration, alleging that they failed to clean water tanks and left behind 85 lakh metric tons of waste as a legacy. He revealed plans to convert this waste into wealth by producing high-quality organic fertilizers for farmers.
